There’s this really odd story in the Bible that closes out Elisha’s life & ministry.

He’s dying.
The future of Israel is on the line.
And King Jehoash comes to him looking for direction.

Here’s Elisha’s response in a nutshell:

“Take a bow and arrows.”
“Open the window.”
“Shoot.”

The first arrow leaves the king’s hand and disappears out the window.

Elisha says: “This is the Lord’s arrow of victory.”

Then he says:

“Take the remaining arrows. Strike the ground.”

The king strikes the ground three times—and stops.

And something weird happens: Scripture says Elisha was angry.

Elisha says: “You should have struck the ground five or six times. Then you would have had complete victory. Now you will only have partial victory.”

The instruction demanded engagement, trust, and full participation.
The king decided how far the victory would go.

He stopped while there were still arrows in his hands.

This story reveals something essential about how God works…

The arrows of victory come from the Lord.
The reach of that victory is placed in your hands.

Scripture never suggests that unused faith gets redeemed later.
There is no later for obedience.
No second round for trust.

What is placed in your hands is meant to be spent now.
